Is there a way to reinstall Windows MediaPlayer on Vista?

If I try to start it (either by shortcut or by .exe) it never starts, and it doesn't show up under Windows processes. The result is that I cannot play .flac .mkv and some .avi's in MP :(

Nobody?

It can't be true that you cannot reinstall Media Player on a Vista machine..

    Hi,

well. I only can tell how it should work under XP.

Software->Add / Remove programs. There you should be able to remove WMP and than install it again (i think).

Or try a repair isntall with your Vista CD...

I had the same problem but under XP. I just downloaded WMP11 from a download site (search in google) and installed it again. Now everything works fine again.

    Greetings Benjamin

Exactly, this was also possible under the RC1 and the betas, but not on the final :(

Sorry benjamin, didn't see your post before. The WMP 11 in Vista is newer than the WMP 11 you can download for XP - so it will not install - been there ;)

Argh reinstalled Vista on a new harddrive. Mediaportal SVN now runs again, but now there are no subtitles on DVD's and you canot see what menu you have selected when navigation DVD menu's.

    ..but now MediaPlayer works again..
