WMV and Media Portal (1 Viewer)

Hello I recently built an htpc box using MP, I noticed that when I watch an Xvid video on WMP 11 the video quality is far superior than MPs video quality, video on MP looks washed out, is there something I need to set up in order to get the video with the same quality? I tried setting options on the video codecs but none of them gives me the quality WMP does. I have 3 codecs installed on MP: DScaler, Cyberlink and HT video codec, what else do I need?

it's a program to visually see what directshow filters are being used

open your XviD in WMP
open graphedit and connect to remote graph
make a note of how the filters are arranged
tweak MP config to use the same filters

Hi,

XviDs are not played through the codecs which can be set in MP Configuration. These settings are only for MPEGs (TV / DVD / Video). Which codec do you have installed for XviD? This codec is picked up automatically by MP / WMP.

What graphics card do you have?

MP uses VMR9 as video renderer, WMP uses Overlay. You have to tweak the VMR9 render settings. This can usually be done in the graphics card settings.
