Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

Dear community,
after the discussions regarding icon mapping, I decide to refactor the whole mapping routines. The latest build you can find here.
The main goal of this update is to include an optional functionality to enhance the icon/condition mapping. This allows users to get extended control about the internal mapping routines of WorldWeather. Please follow these steps to enable this:
  • copy the attached mapping file "WorldWeatherIconMapping.xml" to your MediaPortal data folder, normally c:\programdata\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal (at the next start of MediaPortal, the plugin use this file and disable the hardcoded mappings)
  • if you want to change a mapping, open the file with an editor, navigate to the appropriate section for day/night and weather provider (e.g. "Weather_Day_Google" or "Weather_Night_Google"), look for the condition and change the numeric icon number (see ...\media\weather\64x64" or "...\media\weather\128x128" in your skin folder) to assign your suggested icon.
  • Save your work and restart MediaPortal.
Additionally you can find the original description regarding the original MediaPortal weather images.

Holzi, fischy667 or another willing expert: It would be great to have feedback about the current mapping. Is it possible to check this table and to create a "master version", which I can use later for the internal hardcoded mapping?

Maybe with this solution, we can close/minimize discussions about bad/invalid/incorrect image outputs.

A small last note please: This is an optional functionality for experts only, I do not want to see error posts about icon/condition mappings, if you use this feature.

Cheers, Micropolis

    Re: WorldWeather plugin v0.2.5 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

    Good idea.

    Condition; now -> suggestion

    Day:

    Chance of Rain; 11 -> 39
    Partly cloudy; 29 -> 30

    Night

    Light Rain; 45 -> 11
    Rain; 45 -> 10
    Cloudy; 27 -> 19
    Snow; 46 -> 41
    Chance of Storm; 47 -> 23
    Storm; 47 -> 23
    Thunderstorm; 47 -> 4
    Sleet; 46 -> 18
    Icy; 46 -> 7
    Smoke; 45 -> 11
    Haze; 45 -> 11
    Flurries; 47 -> 1

    The idea is, if it is cloudy you cannot see the moon, and then the symbol must not have the moon.

    I will have a look, thanks! =)

    EDIT:
    I think this is a great enhancement to choose the condition icons on your personal likes. But I still have problem with showing night icons at the moment with default icon mapping.

    Anyone else got this problem?
    Sunrise times and sundown times show correct. See screenshots..

    Just for remind: The background day/night problem is still present. See picture: Rome at 10:30 am and still moon.

    Well.. this maybe just could be a condition icon mapping issue. Cause now I have the condition "Light rain" (instead of "Mostly cloudy" as shown in the night screenshots you see in my last post) and it shows day icon. =)

    EDIT:
    So far I got problems with "cloudy" and "mostly cloudy" condition showing night icon.

    PS:
    Anyone got nice satellite images not only from ZDF. (I didnt find the sun times image there tho; anyone could give me a hint?)
    Thanks!

    Hi Holzi, fischy667,

    I don't think so. When you look in my picture before. The condition is cloudy. It shows condition picture 27. And this is correct, if it were night. If it were day in my WorldWeatherIconMapping.xml (see attachment) stands picture 26.

    So, not the condition picture set the background. Somethings sets condition picture and background incorrect.
