WorldWeather plugin v0.3.0 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

Dear community,
in the first post of this thread you can find a first nightly build for version v0.3.1. Please use it at your own risk.

Changes since the latest official release:

List of plugin related changes:
  • support for up to 10 locations
  • context menu entry for opening a weather map in your preferred browser (thx to Bleazle)
  • world and webcam images added
  • configuration option to override the localization detection routines (hint: not all countries are fully localized yet, because of this some countries calls the fallback page. Send me a request with the localized google URL and with a next build your country is supported.)

List of optional skin related changes:
  • add new properties (#WorldWeather.ImageWorld, #WorldWeather.ImageWebcam)
  • control properties (see chapter 5 of included manual) to indicate image selection

@Bleazle:

I can't believe New Zealand wasn't on the top of your list to be localised! :D :D I use the "English" setting

This was my expectation. Sorry to say, but in this case it's complicated to detect your localization. Let my try to explain this: WorldWeather tries to detect the localization based on your MediaPortal GUI language settings. If you select "english" here, the detection routine gives correctly "google.co.uk". Because of this, I had implemented the option to override the localization detection routines. You can select "New Zealand" here. But: At the moment the plugin use "google.com" furthermore for your country, if I call these link, Google gives me US metric (means mph and not km/h). Which URL do you use normally?

@ysmp:

... weather icons 64x64 are size 128x128 , 128 are o.k.(i think with v0.2.9 the icons 64x64 was corect size)...

maybe I'm blind, but I see no error.

... but no better to add them to weather folder ? maybe as moon64x64,moon128x128

no, I want to use a separate directory. In my opinion, it's a better directory structure for me and some skinners.

Cheers, Micropolis

    @ Catavolt

I think there is a slight error in the designation of the weather images:
Shouldn't the weather image for precipitation read "Niederschlag" instead of "Luftfeuchtigkeit" in German?

    Kind regards

    Roger

The same error seems to have crept into the English text (unless, of course it's the text in the configuration that's wrong). Attached is a corrected XML file, assuming that the intention is, as indicated in the configuration, to show precipitation, and not humidity.

Somehow the xmls seem to be right, but the entry "Precipitation" (or "Niederschlag" in German) isn't called at the corresponding header of the satellite image for precipitation.
There it still says "Humidity" (or "Luftfeuchtigkeit" in German).

So the error seems to be in the code and not in the language xmls.

    Kind regards

    Roger

    Hello powermarcel10,

What kind of webcam streams can be added.. does it have to be an URL? Or a .gif image? I have know idea.

this works in the same way as other weather images, means please enter a URL here

How can I get a google City code and a yahoo postal code?

The current (and only supported) weather provider requires the city code, the field for postal code is for future versions and cannot be used at the moment.

And now, please give me 2 minutes to explain some things: My development server creates every evening a build of my whole plugin collection. The result of this process are "nightly builds". These builds can contain cosmetic, minor, major and critical errors. In the last days I have decide to post an inofficial build here for testing purposes only. This could help skinners to prepare skins internally and to show in a transparent way, in which direction the development goes. But please be aware, that you must use this version at your own risk. New features are not completely supported in this early development phase.
I cannot suggest to create translation files or skin enhancements based on these builds (see your post here), because these builds could change on a day-by-day basis. And again: a nightly build is not official. If I post a release candidate, this is the best moment to start a complete regression test and to publish translation and skin changes.

Maybe these sounds a bit arrogant for you (or others), so let me say sorry before.

    Cheers, Micropolis

AW: WorldWeather plugin v0.3.0 for MediaPortal v1.2.0 or higher

First of all - excellent work!! :D

I'm using v0.3 with StreamedMP and I've got some problems and suggestions.
-My ZDF precipitation map does not move it's just a picture. (satellite picture works fine)
-I'm not getting the sky map regardless of which site I choose in the configuration

That's for the problems and now my suggestions.
-The temperature in the five day overview is pretty small concerning the fontsize (appart from present day).
I think it would look better if the temperatures of the other days was bigger in size and seperated by a slash.
The fontsize of the present day could still remain the biggest one but for now I think the other font is pretty undersized.

-On the main screen of the plugin it's hard to read the weather details because of the mostly bright background in StreamedMP.
The weather-fitting backgrounds look great but I think everything would be more readable if there was a darker area in the
middle of the screen where the details are. Like in the tv guide where you have darker areas for the program description.

-I think it would look pretty nice on the basic screen if the background would not change instantly to the weather-background
when scrolling over the weather label but to have the five day summary with a background image that fits more to the
appropriate corporate design (StreamedMP in my case)

I know that most of my suggestions are more for the streamedmp team then for you but I thought that this would be the right place to post this..

    Cheers,

    Rico

...for StreamedMP you can find the skin of screenshot below here -> https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/streamedmp-301/mod-different-skin-layout-worldweather-plugin-103449/index2.html#post821603; I think most of your concerns should be solved.
