Ok, I am a total noob regarding this topic... I'd like to feed the EPG database of the TV Server with additional sources, other than DVB-S, since a few channels don't provide EPG data over DVB-S (I'd like to try the MP EPG updater). However, I've no idea where to get additional sources... :). Are there free sources anyway? Or do I have to pay something, in order to get xmltv sources for example.

Any help on this? I am still very confused. All I find on the web are just the tools to create xmltv files... :/

    Hi!
I believe that you would find most channels using the WebEPG. What channels are you missing?

I don't miss any channels... I just don't know where to get an EPG source from the web ;). I was planning on using the MP EPG updater (instead of WebEPG etc.).

Well, there is no global answer to this kind of question. Grabbing EPG is a challenge in some cases.

My way is not THE way, it's simply mine. This is only valid because I need to grab french & english programmes and the source I found was OK. You will probably not be happy with mine because of the place you live and the channels you' d probably want to look at

Since the traditional way (tv grabber) is unstable, I chosed a sideway :
    - I found a site providing EPG in XMLTV format...Just in case it is xmltv.myftp.org
    - I wrote a batch downloading it via WGET, unzipping it and copying into my xmltv folder
    And it works

You could have found something by looking here XMLTV - MythTV

    Good luck

Hm, did you try the aforementioned https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/.../epg-downloader-service-tv-server-only-32166/ yet? With that you could skip the batch downloading, unzipping and copying part of your way :)

Anyway... aren't there xmltv sources where you have to pay per year/month, which don't require any further processing? I remember being on a site that offered xmltv sources for a fee, but can't find it anymore.

Well, it looks I made things more complex than they should

I cannot help about paid sources unfortunately. But I would be pleased to hear from someone else on that matter
