I have an xmltv file created from Schedules Direct that includes parenthesis in the Channel ID. I came accross a thread that says that XMLTV doesn't handle them correctly which seems to be my problem. It doesn't seem to be just (), it seems to be with there are parenthesis inside (), like (channel (east)). The thing is, I just tested this entire setup on a Windows 10 box and it worked flawlessly. I'm seeing the issue on a Win 7 box. Is there a workaround for this where I wouldn't have to change/hack the tvguide.xml dramatically to fix it?

You could always change the names of the channels in the tvguide.xml file. That should be easy.
