sorry bout lack of info guys but am in a real hurry to get htpc up and running before mrs gets home,

Has anyone managed to get the mp1 rc1 installer running on xp64, i have a licence for this but it crashes out with an exception jsut after extracting the files to temp directory
have tried running the installer set to windows xp compatibility but no diff??
anyone?

sorry but XP64 is not supported as install platform. Is clearly stated in the wiki: GeneralRequirements - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation.

Anyway the crash immediatly after extract usually means that your system is missing .NET 2.0.

Yeah i did see that but on searching forums found that others had got previous versions running
I really didn't want to go out and pay for a new copy of xp for this when i had a all legal licence alread:y

OK yes you were right i had forgotten to install .net (assumed it was included in sp2)
But it is the installer that is preventing the install with its version checking, anyone know how to turn this off?

I know because I wrote the installer and no there is no way to turn this off.

Well thanks for the info anyway

Anyway i have done a manual install of req'd components incl sqlexpr etc and all seem to be working apart from,
the tv server installed ok and scanned for channels etc but installing the deploy folder mp1.0rc1 seems to be assuming install of built in tvengine and not looking for tvserver,# is there any way to switch this or are the clients two different packages?
Please humour me on this, i really don't mean to be rude by trying this against advice but a new copy of xp is very expensive and i just can't afford it right now.

ok guys figured that out now, dumbass here hadn't installed the client plugin lol, config page looks ok but am getting an erro "can't connect to tv server" figure this is a firewall error any clues? ports exe files to set up?

Its usually sql db not configured to allow connections.

as usual its the stupid bit between chair and console!!!, anyway i had run the tvengine installer a second time to install the client and as i had only ticked the client install box it had "un-installed" the tv-server lol

Its up and running now guys many thanks and if we'll see if its worth it to have saved all that money


well spoke to soon!!, the hauppauge remote works only partly, will select my tv and go into guide but after selecting channel can't bring the guide back up or enter any of the hotkey areas like "MP home" or "my videos" etc

Uninstalled the ir32 app as it crashes on exit with as i also experienced with vista32 trial and from previous experience wasn't actually reqd except for mp config, also tried placing the hauppauge xml file in various locations as mp didn't seem to want to create a custom profile.

I have had problems with remote before usually scan codes getting mixed up ie press vol up and randomly it would change
channel.
usually removing none 45key remote definitions from the xml file worked to solve that but his time made no difference
