Tested with the new build (reinstalled). Watched a movie, got to the end, clicked stop (which was successful).
I did not click Stop... I let the entire movie end and let MP1 close out everything and show the Movie selection screen

On my side, i need to disable : 'file existence cache' otherwise MP can take few minutes to close (from background).

Tested with the new build (reinstalled). Watched a movie, got to the end, clicked stop (which was successful). Then same problem.

I then went to the watchdog and clicked "proceed" - and it noted "waiting for exit." When I exited, watchdog closed to, no logs created. I'll try it again next time for new logs.

Ok, watched something else, clicked stop, nothing worked but the top bar again (same as always). I went to watchdog, clicked proceed, exited, and this time it zipped. See attached.

FYI, my settings have always had this caching setting disabled as shown below:

    Thanks.

Yep, MP is running in background.

So you need to start MP with watchdog on first and run to the issue and close MP (or kill it in taskmgr) like this watchdog will grab the correct log.
Right now it try to grab the new started MP that can't start because the first one is already in background.

So if all is ok with watchdog (first option) then it's something related to a plugin.

If I open "debug mode" (watchdog) - and go to "actions - #2. Launch MediaPortal" - nothing happens. So I can't start it from watchdog directly...

I think it's because MP is running in background, you need to kill it or restart your pc and start watchdog (ofc MP shouldn't auto start with your computer :) )

When I close MP, there is no instance of it running in task manager, so there's nothing to close/kill... haha.

But it's strange message in log is clear, MP is running but maybe hidden :)
So I will do like this :
1- Start/restart your PC (be sure MP is not setup to start on windows start)
2- Start Watchdog (first option / stock plugins)
    3- Do what you want.
    4- Grab log :)

Disabled "start with windows." Restarted. Clicked "debug mode." I'm not sure what "First option/stockplugins" means? I go to #2, launch. Nothing happens...

Ah ok :) thanks for the screenshot.

    I don't use 'Action' menu :)
Just stay on 'Report a bug to Team MediaPortal' and then do proceed :p

it will start MP as usual but with default plugins and now you can do what you want and reproduce your issue when you will quit MP or eventually kill it, log will be generated.

    Thanks :)
