could you please try in overlay?

Thing is that in vmr9 the stupid codec starts messing with the AR to get it correct again.
So when we change the AR, the damn codec does the same and thus you get mega zoomed in picture etc.

If it is ok, or better in overlay we r 1 step closer.

So, the whole problem is that the stupid codec messes around with AR to.

If only ffdshow fixed their mpg2 decoding......

    Hi,

I have recently started using MediaPortal (Very nice BTW).
And I to use a 16:9 resolution on my HTPC as I have a Widescreen TV.
I use the Intervideo Codes from WinDVD 6.

Anyway DMAN you are right SVCD files are 'squashed' as you call them.
I have just tried the new zoom modes in 0.0.0.8 and these sort of help but on my rig it's stretching / zooming too much on Pan & Scan.

I am using Overlay as it gives me the best results.

DMAN, can you PM me the FTP site for the sample files you guys have been talking about?

    Just clarifying the point.

    KJ

    Mr Mario,

I only use Overlay on my HTPC.
As highlighted in an earlier post VMR9 in early MP builds did not work very well with my older graphics card.
I think VMR9 will only work with cards designed with DirectX 9 in mind.
Since I use a slightly older Nvidia chipset then I avoided using it.

What I will do is shoot some video footage of my TV in action with the two sample moves etc and post them to an FTP site for you.
That way you will get a better understanding since you don't appear to be able to force a 16:9 resolution on your HTPC and hence duplicate the problem to the same extent.

    DMAN.

    k, I seen the movie.

first, this is not MP's fault it is the stupid codec.
This is with your video player on overlay right cause of the older chipset.

I have the same look on my screen when I use overlay.
When I use VMR9 it works perfectly.

Could you try it? maybe it works better now as we did fix vmr9 stuff.

I'll have a look on overlay, to see if we can do something about it.

on a sidenote. You know that setting the overscan causes you to have a less quality right? Valuable video lines will be thrown away!
Thats why there is a warning out there :))

    ok, it's sorted.
I tried VMR9 and it works alot better!
Unfortunately VMR9 causes alot of graphical text issues but it is alot better than prevous builds.

Overlay would be the prefered method to suit more chipsets.
But hey if you need a VMR9 guinea pig you know who to call to iron out the bugs...

Yes I know setting overscan causes valuable lines to be thrown away but every device connected to a TV uses overscan to avoid horrible edges.
I set mine just outside the visable area with MP to get as much video content on the screen as possible.
Plus when you capture TV (PAL - 625 lines) the you need overscan!

Keep up the good work I think we can finally kill this thread!!!

PM me if you want more testing done.

    DMAN.
