according to this link, skype kit supports video under windows.... Skype - Developer blog - SkypeKit now available for Mac and Windows developers
it is confusing the way they worded it... the SkypeKit is availble for Mac and Windows.... and video is supported in some of the skype kits..... so they mangle the words to make it sound more appealing than it actually is
AW: Skype4MP with video I think you misunderstood: Video is NOT available in Windows SkypeSDK yet! Really, not... honestly cheers joystick
Re: AW: Skype4MP with video So close, and yet so far... I'm eagerly waiting for this feature, however I suppose once Skype releases that part of the SDK we're bound to see a big rise in alternate interfaces for Skype for the PC... Interesting times.
My fear is that it is not going to be free.... For every installation a "key" will be needed, provided by... Skype (=M$)... The "test"-keys they are giving out now have to be renewed every 6 weeks.
Perhaps in our quest for the ultimate video chat solution for our HTPCs, we'll end up with a totally different software. I'm not against the idea of dropping Skype altogether in favor of a different solution that'll provide an easy and elegant interface for the HTPC. Has anyone had any experience with Logitech Vid? The interface seems like it could be nice for media centers.
The simple fact is that Skype is the most widely used video chat software in the world... changing to another video chat soft is like convincing everyone to use Linux instead of Windows... that won't happen... The interface is not the problem, it's the unwillingness of Skype to provide 3th party developpers a decent video connection to the Skype network through their API. [Edit] A new version of the SkypeKit is out: 3.4 but... still no video on windows...
AW: Skype4MP with video Hi. I'm not the expert, but for MCE/ VMC there is a Skype-Plugin including video. Maybe it is intersting for you Windows Experts Community Andreas
