On my 150+ mbps optic fibre wifi I am only getting <10 mbps whereas my desktop I get over 150 and the desktop this replaced was >50mbps.

I've got a defunct laptop with one of those copper pads and bars that leads from the processor to a small heatsink by slots in the side. I might be able to mod that to take heat from the bottom to the top and out through holes.

Cool, thanks. That's still incredibly low compared to the 80W on the current desktop.Will save me £6 per month so will pay for itself in a year plus I won't have to turn it off when guests stay in the spare room!

I wonder if you can help me as although I am fine with conventional PC's etc have not delved much into this. I'm looking for a low power silent PC to run a weather station via a USB connection. It will need to be collecting data 24/7 and running the Windows software which will not work if a PC...
