The point for me is to reduce the heat & noise inside the mediapc. If the timeshifting was done to a network drive this should at least help on the noise, but also possibly on the heat.

After reading the 1. post I realize that my problem is different than the 1 poster. My problem is that the service stopped just after it started. And there seemed to be a connection with the Media center services. Have you tried to disable them?

I can cautiously say that I found a fix. By turning off all the Windows Media Center services in msconfig, it seems that IR-server no logner is shut down. I noticed in the logs that there was a Media center service (scheduler something) that closed just before IR-server was closed.

You need to set up your harmony with a MCE template from the "add new device" in the Logitech Harmony Remote Software.
