Yes, definitely from My Radio.
I will do a fresh install and see if the problem is still there.

Definitey from My Radio here as well. The odd thing is that if a radio station is check in the Setup, it will play when MP is launched. But if I stop the radio playback and immediately try to restart it, it fails. The playback window appears, but the visualization doesn't start and no sound is present. So I know radio can work. It just has trouble on my end doing so.

I had a similar problem with MyHTPC. Their streaming radio relied on Windows Media Player. Apparantly there was a problem with WMP that caused it to not "reset" (for lack of a better word) after a radio stream was played. You could play one stream, but if you stopped it, you couldn't get it or any other stream to play again. To get around this, MyHTPC implemented a "Reset" option which appeard on the main interface as a button. If you wanted to listen to a different radio station, you had to go to the main interface, press the reset button, and then select a new stream to play.

Beyond Media and GB-PVR both had streaming audio as well. And neither exhibited this problem. I believe GB-PVR only worked with Shockwave files. It may have been the same with Beyond Media. This leads me to believe that the problem may be with Windows Media Player, or perhaps how Media Portal interfaces with Windows Media Player.

Hi there....

I did not see this topic before, but i think that i have a similar problem:
http://nolanparty.com/mediaportal.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8791

I cant get my streaming stations to play when MP starts, i have to manually go in and switch to an other streaming channel, nomatter that MP is displaying the radiostation in the screen at startup, the sound i get is from the last tv-channel i watched before closing MP the last time.....

- btw. this worked fine before MP 0.1.0.2, and i think that the problem started with MP 0.1.0.2, but it is first now with MP 0.1.0.3 that i have been looking at this issue......

I have the problem too, since upgrading to 1.3.0 final, not before.
I have tried deleting the radio db and adding the channels again, but at did not help.

I have the same problem when upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.3.0.
Links like:
http://<ip>/<channelName> works
while links like:
http://<dns-name-plus-path>/*.asx
mms://<dns-name-plus-path>
does not.

The only thing that changed between the versions as I see it is the use of WMP (1.3.0) instead of DirectShow (1.1.1) for radio playback. The option to choose DirectShow for radio playback seems to have disappeared in the later versions.

Ok, it might not solve all peoples problems but I found out a setting "Offline" in WMP that prevent MP to play Internet radio streams. If Windows Media Player = offline, then my radio streams will not play in Media Portal.

denybear: Firefox asks for an external program to play your third link (didn't dare trying) so thats a different issue I guess.

works fine under WMP10 but NOT under MP0.13

Hi there,

I've made some tests on the above link with WMP10 and MP013.
I've used Ethereal to see what packets were going in/out, and what was the difference.

An access to the above URL sends back a 304 http error.
The difference between WMP10 and MP stands in how this error is treated.

WMP10 sends another request to a new URL, whose IP address is based on previous one, just a change in the last address part (XX.YY.ZZ.WW : change in the WW, while the others remain unchanged).

MP, upon receiving of the 304 error, just re-issues an http request to the same IP address (and then connection is cut as host has already replied with an error).

Does this gives any idea to anyone ???
I will send traces asap.

1 solution

My problems with streaming channels not playing has been solved. I reinstalled everything from scratch (incl. os) and the radio channels where working again.

Later on I installed the hauppauge IR application to get hauppauge remote control support and once again the streaming radio channels didn't work!

After uninstalling the hauppauge IR app the radio channels were working again!!! Please don't ask me why.

Confirmed.
I've uninstalled the Hauppauge IR driver, and now my radio streams work !!!
Reinstalled Hauppauge IR driver, and they dont work anymore !

The issue is that I want both radio and remote control...

I'm really wondering what developers at Hauppauge have put in their IR driver so it affects IP streams !

Maybe I have an idea to work around that one. Will try tonight and keep you guys posted if it works...
