Hi I had the same problem,
What i did ? (after alot of stress this is what i think worked for me)
Install Directx 9.0c april version !
then download the WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe file
installed the MP10 version of mediaplayer.
reboot and try with DxDiag if your video card supports the directdraw (test button)
