What's the deal with TV server. I'll go read up on it and maybe try it out tonight.

my MP seems to be crashing any time I go to TV now so I have to whip out my database anyways.

TV Server is the push that the developers are moving toward. I expect the whole system to move toward this architecture. There will be a sepperate apps for the backend and client, then you can hav ethe client on other computers if you want. I think it is a great idea and it will be great when it is functioning with all the features and plugins we have now, but that is months away! Currently the TV Server release is limited if you are use to some of the plugins and fetures which have been released.

Will the capturecarddefinitions file from 0.2.0.0 (patch 4) work with 0.2.1?

When I upgraded MP 0.2.0 to 0.2.1 (uninstall-install), I did not setup anything, so I belive it should work perfectly.

Well, I would tend to agree.

But in my case (where it doesn't work) I need to try to find some method or troubleshoot so I can get it working again.

I replaced the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file with that from my 0.2.0.0 patch 4 setup. WORKS PERFECT!

I suggest that the developers replace the portion of that file which applies to the "Angel Dual TV Tuner (Tuner 1)" and also "Angel Dual TV Tuner (Tuner 2)" with what was in the 0.2.0.0 patch 4 release. I did a compare and there are many changes I saw many additions and deletions made to the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file.

For me just replacing the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml with one from a working copy was not enough. I only have the problem when doing a clean install.

My solution: First install MediaPortal 0.2, complete the configuration, do a uninstall followed by the install of 0.2.1

Unfortunately none of the suggested Fixes have worked for me. I can't replace the capturecard.xml file because I have never had a working install. I saw that in support they say that this can come from a screwed up setting but when I try to fix that it doesn't work either. It's prettys speratic, Each time I re-install it is alittle differant.

I think I might try out MCE and see if I have better luck with that.
