1.3.0 Final and OS Support (1 Viewer)

I am putting the final touches on parts to build my new server.
I am located in a suburb of Chicago Illinois (USA) and have WOW Cable for TV along with a Digital Antenna on the roof.
While I am building from scratch, I would like to have 1.3.0 final and would also like to test MP2.
Currently I have 1 TV card but am planning to purchase a Quad card once the server is up and running.

The basic's of the new server
Asus M5-A88V
CPU AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz 6core
16G Ram
1 SSD boot
5 1.5T Hard Drives for storage in Raid 5. 4 will be the raid and 1 as a hot spare
I will be setting up a 1G Ram drive for OS temp files and MP files

I run a web server from home with Win 2008 Server and IIS to support family web sites.
Is there a recommended server OS that MP 1 and 2 will support?
At first I plan to use as a server but am also considering making it a client for the randomly used big screen in the basement.

With the install of MP2, I plan to make testing available to the core developers.
Any suggestions?

Windows Server is not supported (but with some effort will work)

My server is running with Server 2012 (had 2008 R2 before that) and it's working just fine with MP1. Got BDA Support enabled, so it also streams LiveTV over my network. Not sure how MP2 behaves on this OS.
