Hi MM,

Had an opportunity to look more into this. I now believe the problem lies with the satellite XML files and 8PSK.

When you download the xml files from the "Update Satellite List" in the MP TV Server Console, the downloaded sat files for 129 do not have 8Psk set under modulation.
The MP Downloaded xml file shows as: <Modulation>ModNotSet</Modulation>
When it scans, it does not pick up any signal or channels when Modulation is not set.

Now if the downloaded xml file is edited with 8Psk set under modulation as: <Modulation>Mod8Psk</Modulation>
When it Scans, the signal is locked and the channels scan in correctly.

So if my theory is correct, I believe the sat file for 129 that is obtained from the MP server needs to have that switch put in. However, I should mention that my signal on 129 is low around 80 or so and needs to be tweaked. I'm not sure if the signal issue would come into play with the "Mod8Psk" switch or not. In other words if the signal was higher would it detect the Modulation automatically?

Now the beauty of this is that with the edited file everything works correctly including the 22khz switching with Mediaportal meaning, a patch is not needed. At least this is the case with the Genpix Tuner.

Thank you very much for your hard work, and taking the time to answer my questions. I greatly appreciate it.

    Hi again FilterX

Had an opportunity to look more into this. I now believe the problem lies with the satellite XML files and 8PSK.
Hmm, thanks for the pointer - I concur.

The transponder details are sourced from FastSatFinder.com. We don't actually do any work to keep them up to date. Strangely, the 129W file that we distributed with MP 1.2.3 and MP 1.3a (which was possibly the same - can be found here - does include 8 PSK transponders).

So I'm not sure if there is an issue with FastSatFinder or quite what is going on. I'll try to contact them to see if I can get any information...

Not certain, but I doubt it. As you probably know, the 8 PSK there is referring to turbo-FEC 8 PSK as used by Dish, not the DVB-S2 8 PSK that is more common everywhere else in the world. FastSatFinder is able to differentiate between the two but our arrangement with them is a little complicated. I won't go into the details as it would just bore you, but suffice to say this does need to be looked at and I'll do the best I can.

    :)
Indeed... and most people seem to use Genpix for those turbo FEC transponders as they are one of the only tuners that I'm aware of that can demodulate the signals.

Thank you very much for your hard work, and taking the time to answer my questions. I greatly appreciate it.
    No problem, any time. :)

I'll see what I can do about the transponder lists...
