This also was happening with 1.8 Final over 1.7, but I didn't report because 1.9 was near, so I waited for it.

I tried running as administrator -- same thing.

I just updated 2 1.8 installs and did not see this, I did update all plugins just before and chose to to install lav filters again when I did it.
would a plugin issue cause this?

both my machines were win7 64 though, not 32. not sure if that matters.

.net 3.5 and 4.0 installed. TVservice stopped. These are the only things I see in the prereqs.

c++ 8 and 10 installed. Are there others I might need?

C++ redists have patches and service packs. You need to make sure you have the latest. In other words, make sure you've got all the latest .NET and c++ redist updates via Microsoft/Windows update.

The error message is a bit frustrating. Obviously a file is missing... but which one (!!!). Since the error message references mscorlib it is certainly not a MediaPortal file and most likely to be a .NET file.

Googling comes up with links like:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-missing/cd107556-8b5f-4fd4-b670-4128320737a4

You could try the official .NET repair tool:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135

Ultimately you may end up needing to uninstall and reinstall all .NET packages... or even reinstall Windows.

    Ughh.

Windows Update came up with an IIS change with no reference to .NET. I installed anyway.
    Also ran that repair tool.

But I can't do much more right now. Wife came home and doesn't tolerate tinkering well when she wants to use the system. But I get several hours tomorrow.

MP 1.7 is still working, so it's not an emergency.

    Still no go. Same problem.

I've now tried everything but a manufacturer's restore, my only other option. That would be a big project, since the machine is old and is my general purpose machine with a ton of other stuff besides MP.

MP 1.7 is now slightly broken -- music and pictures don't work any more. Other software also seems OK -- not sure which use .NET.

I'm thinking of getting another, single seat MP box capable of holding my tuners (Hauppauge 2250's) and using TV as monitor. I assume I can network the drives or move a couple into the new box. Don't need or want a client/server MP setup.

I'll start a new thread to see if anybody has recommendations.
