Hmm I've just bought the Asus nVidia equivalent of this card (GT520), hope they haven't knobbed that one too!

AW: 1080i deinterlacing not working with AMD 6450

Just installed the 6450. And it is NOT able to decode 1080i with Vector Adaptive Deinterlacing.
I set it to VA but everytime I start mediaportal to look an HD Channel with 1080i, the only thing I can se is Bob deinterlacing, and this is just rubbish. Thx 4 the tips.. real sucking.

The ASUS one with 32bit bus? :)
I have Saphire 6450 in my HTPC and it is working just fine.
Just make sure you have DXVA decoder and DXVA is enabled.

No have bought the Club3d card.
But the drivers 11.5 are so f*cked up. Everytime I change something, its not really changing it, i have to change it again. Then the settings were saved.
And now its working with Vector Adaptive Deinteracing. But when I put on ALL enhancement features like Edge-Enhancement, Mosquito Denoising... then I have 1 frame per second ^^

horbug did you enable Dynamic Range? And to which setting?

This is an ATI Driver setting but anyways don't use these stupid enhancement stuff at all. VA + pulldown is the only stuff I use.

    and Dynamic Range?

What u both have for settings with the pixel format? Sometimes I have the feelings that I dont have very black levels...
    Atm I use:
    Pixelformat: 4:4:4
    Dynamic Range: 16-235
The HTPC is connected via HDMI to a FullHD Epson Beamer. I adjusted the HDMI Level there to: Normal
I told ffdshow to output as 16-235

Are these settings right? Sometimes I have washed out colores I think.. :/ I dont really know, what is right :(

Re: AW: 1080i deinterlacing not working with AMD 6450

being the cheapscate I am I went for the Saphire hd6450 512mb ddr3 card - the same card as hoborg.

installed ati drivers 11.8 and using the builtin windows7 video decoder (dxva enabled) in MP.

720p and 576p seems to work ok with all settings enabled.
now when doing 1080i stuff it soils itself bigtime when either
    "deblocking"
    ... or
    "mosquito noise reduction" is used.
fps grinds down to a halt.
1080i on this card does not like any of those 2 settings.
All other settings seem to work ok.

    I'm using the following settings.

    Color vibrance: 40
    Flesh tone correction: 50
    Video Gamma:Disabled
    Brighter whites: Disabled
    Dynamic range: Full
    Use automatic deinterlacing: Disabled
    Vector Adaptive Deinterlacing: Enabled
    Pulldown detection: Enabled
    Edge enhancement: 15
    De-noise: 3
    Dynamic contrast: Enabled
    Enforce smooth playback: Disabled

    => causes problems
    Mosquito noise reduction: 50
    De-blocking: 50

    Hint:
disable MP "always on top mode" from config.exe.
    open ATI CCC window
    then start MP fullscreen.
start some TV or other hardware accel. media type.
then alt-tab back to CCC window and start playing with the settings in real time.

On my other (more capable rig - HD5750) I tried realtime toggling "Mosquito noise reduction" and "De-blocking" from off to enabled at 100% and I am unable to see any difference to the image at all. And I ve spent minutes looking at the telly :)
The 5750 card has no issues with any of the settings btw.

Im not sure its worth sending back the card as I can NOT see any need for those 2 options.
But it surely tells us that the card is not able to work with all settings enabled on 1080i material.

    Hi there,

I've also gut a problem with this card. I got the Powercolor passive 1GB version and Catalyst 12.8

I disabled all the ATI settings and left Pulldown on.
When I set De-interlacing to adaptive, the picture is quite ok, also on 1080i channels. However if I try either motion adaptive or vector adaptive de-interlacing seems to fall back to bob.

Edit: Ok, Update, I get motion adaptive and vector adaptive to work, but then TV playback is extremely stuttering. On vector even more than on motion.
And adaptive alone just looks a little "off" the whole time...

    Any ideas?

    EDIT:
Adding the FPS from the MePo graph:
adaptive: 50fps - almost rock steady constant
    motion adaptive: 41fps - constant
    vector adaptive: 39-41fps inconstant

Is my setup simply too weak for 1080i Live TV?!

As far as I can see from DXVAChecker, DXVA is on and everything's fine. I'm running on PowerDVD12 Codec from the SAF6 pack.
