Area: Media Portal HW
Version: RC4 SVN 05/12
Skin: MCE
Windows Version XP SP2. Two cards patch installed
CPU Type: AMD 1700
Memory: 512
Motherboard Chipset: GIGABYTE
Video Card: GEFORCE 6600
Video Card Driver: LATEST
Video Card Resolution: 720x578
Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: NVIDIA
Audio Codec Type & Version: NVIDIA
TV Card1: KNC DVB-T+
TV Card Type:DVB-T
TV Card1: Hauppauge 1300
TV Card Type:DVB-T +analog
TV Card Driver: latest both cases

After several weeks trying MP to work with those two cards I realized that after the tunning I got different frecuencies for the same channel. All frecuencies with Hauppauge card ended in 000, while frecuencies with KNC ended in 167.

I manually changed a coupple of channels and I got it. I could watch a program ended in 000 and record another ended in 167.

I have tried to change all the names and tunne the second card getting a complete set of new channels then use "combine" but no results.

Any idea is wellcomed.

Some drivers have a problem with frequency offsets. The hauppauge drivers had the problem up until about a year ago. Unless you have more than one card you wouldnt notice it. It doesnt effect tuning, it just stuffs up the discovered frequency.

Some card manufacturers have yet to either discover the problem or fix it. Definately not a fix but it might be the cause.

Callifo thanks for the quick answer.

Do you think it has sense to use other Hauppauge driver or i will be wasting my time?.

Before I noticed that problem I spent a lot of time figthing with MP, that by the way since RC4 plus the latest SVN is performing more than well.

    Thanks

No one can help me. As I said "combine" channels did not help (probably not thought for this)

It is very frustrated to finnally dicover the problem and not to have a solution.

    regards

The drivers where the bug wasnt fixed was such a long time ago that your card wouldnt be supported. So thats not an option. Im not sure where to proceed from here as I was just unknowningly lucky enough to buy 2 of the same cards.

Ok, thanks. I bougth the 1300 to have a second DVB-T and to record from STB with HW encoded. Bad luck.

They say it is MCE compatible, but this is not true. If this card does not allow MCE to manage more than one card it is not MCE compatible. Maybe we can argue this with Hauppauge and they will feel very concern not having Microsoft compatibility ;-)

Yes the card is MCE compatible. It's not Hauppauge's fault that other manufacturers are incapable of keeping their drivers up to date.

Thanks for the link. It is very complex for me to follow, and no clear conclusion about which manufacturer, Hauppauge or KNC, has the problem:)

The way Hauppauge do things is probably affecting the speed changing channels in MP(much better with the KNC) and some quality issues (again much better KNC).

In any case if MCE says it can manage more than one card this issue has to be solved ( drivers or manufacturers) because at the end MCE can manage cards from the same brand, not mixing them and this is far from real compatibility, I guess.

Well I am thinking in create 2 set of channels, and use one card for live TV and the other just for record. WAF will drop dramatically with this, but I do not see now any alternative.

PD Maybe we had to rename WAF and call it FAF (Family) and be less unfair with our coupples.:)
