Hi guys,

I'm new to the HTPC world and been messing with MediaPortal and XBMC, both worthy apps for this purpose. I'm leaning towards MP as i seem to have less issues/problems getting stuff to work.

That being said, I have 2 issues I need help with and hope one of you can help out:

1- I connected my HTPC to a Pioneer VSX-1025 receiver in HDMI and when I go from my PVR (or other source) back to the HTPC the issues is that MP cannot read files in a folder I'm using, like a music folder containing an album in MP3 format. MP just does not see the files and I have to exit & re-launch MP. Really annoying

2- I was able to add in the config tool the folders for all my media sources on the server in the basement, through good old file shares. While I can use the music part of MP, the video parts are not collaborating. MP does not display the file names in the folders so I can't play anything. I tried this with Default Wide as a skin, same thing. Any ideas? Before posting I reset the DB and re-scanned.

On your second point, you may have to add the video file extension type to the list in MP config. If you expand the "video" tree, you should see an section marked "extension" - it will be in here you add the video file type and hopefully MP should then list the video files you have missing.

Alright, added the file extensions and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Also, once in a while (and was not yet able to reproduce the issue) MP just looses the content of a folder. I have to re-launch it then it works. Anybody else have this issue? I use a mapped drive on my htpc to my server for content.

For the videos, are you using a database view or shares view?

Try switching to shares view, which will simply show you the content of the folders.

Make sure you are using UNC names and not mapped drive letters. People have found that when you wake a system up, often drive mappings get lost. Be sure to use \\server\share and not mapped drive letter.
