Ok, so I'm pretty new to Media Portal still, but I'm liking it so far. Having used BeyondTV and SageTV, I can't believe how nice an Open Source program is! So onto my questions.

1. I'm using the TV Series plugin. I like it, but I don't like the fact that I have to go into "Plugins" to get to it. Is there a way to move it to the home screen? If so, can I remove the plugins from the main menu?

2. Is there any kind of client install for a remote computer? I saw something about a tv client, but I was looking for a client for music/movies/tv series. I don't have any working TV tuners so having a tv client does me absolutely no good.

Well you can change the main screen in some skins, I suggest you check out some of the skins that use a Basichome editor and then you can choose which buttons to put on the home screen and what they do.

To install as a client just install the same as you did and for the paths of your videos just use the UNC network path to the same folders you have on the current machine.

Many people have multiple clients with and without the TV service, I have a main server and 3 clients and don't use a tv tuner card either

Hi Todd

Are you using default skin, if so make sure under the GUI\skin settings in config allow home and basichome, set home preferred, then you will get a scroll down menu showing tvseries and movingpictures instead of the side by side basichome, mce green button on remote toggles between those 2 screens if you have one.

Ryan: I'm using StreamedMP now. Installed that last night (had another skin, but like this one better for various reasons). I'm assuming the basichome editor is the thing is installs on the desktop. I'll have to take a peak again and see if I can find it.

Thanks for your help on the "frontend" client. That helps a lot. Ever since I hooked up the media server again, seems like I can't watch any of my own shows =] Although there is one thing I can't figure out. If I watch say one of my tv shows on say my laptop, it won't update the show on the server to set as watched already. Is there some way to possibly mirror the database too?

@Paranoid: That's a neat idea but not really what I was looking for. Appreciate the idea though!
