25 Frames per second on EVR (1 Viewer)

Hi,

When playing DVD content in EVR (NVidia purevideo codec or Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 codec), I get 25 fps max. on EVR. VMR gives 50FPS, which is a noticable difference. Two questions:

- why is it such a big difference (the DVD is encoded in 25fps according to g-spott). I've got my TV setup at 50Hz / 1920x1080
- is it possible to get 50fps in EVR?

Also, pressing Shift+F1 in EVR, shows a resolution of 1280x720 (while my native and desktop resolution are 1920x1080)... why's that?

If the material is 25 fps progressive then the correct display rate is 25 fps frames. Most likely VRM9 is just reporting the doubled frames that its going to display (just like EVR is doing, but reporting only differently). The results should be the same with EVR & VMR9, both are as smooth as its not possible/feasible to generate missing frames from the 25 -> 50 pull up (well in theory it is, but lets not get into that...)

Now if the material is interlaced the fps should be 50, as the material actually consist 50fps, with half information per every odd and even frames. Many software (maybe even all?) software codecs are blending these interlaced frames together and will show the decoded results as 25fps.

Thanks for your clearly explination. The fact that the VMR renderer plays movies more smootly then EVR, should be the result of other problems. I've read a lot of AMD780G chipset problems when it comes to rendering with EVR. Seems I need to get more into that.
I'm currently using Catalyst 8.7, anyone knows if there's a better one around?
