I have had this problem for a while with SVN/1.0.1 and the latest 1.0.2. Basically what appears to happen is mediaportal locks up for 3 mins at certain GUI locations.

  • Entering My Videos
Going back to Folders view from My Music
Playback of video files that use the video player (My Videos, MP TV Series, Moving Pictures).

Now for the last one videos actually do start to playback, but input from the remote and mouse are totally ignored for the 3 mins. Then all of a sudden the buttons that I pressed 3 mins ago all fire.

Anyone have any ideas? The videos and music are being loaded from a network share but the share is active and accessible from windows.

Edit:

removal of the network drives still shows the problem, ruling out network drive issues. Also here is an excerpt from MediaPortal.log going from Home Screen into My Videos.

Code:
2009-05-09 22:10:00.716000 [Debug][MPMain]: Window: MediaPortal.GUI.Home.GUIHome deinit

2009-05-09 22:10:00.725000 [Debug][MPMain]: TextureManager: CleanupThumbs()

2009-05-09 22:10:00.890000 [Debug][MPMain]: Window: MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoFiles init

2009-05-09 22:10:00.900000 [Debug][MPMain]: GUIVideoFiles: Resetting virtual directory

2009-05-09 22:10:00.902000 [Info.][MPMain]: open folderdatabase

2009-05-09 22:13:08.975000 [Debug][MPMain]: GUIVideoFiles: SelectCurrentItem - nothing to do for item -1

2009-05-09 22:13:45.571000 [Info.][MPMain]: D3D: Restoring from tray

2009-05-09 22:13:45.580000 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: OnSizeChanged - Resetting device

2009-05-09 22:13:45.583000 [Debug][MPMain]: D3D: Switch to exclusive mode - Playing media: False

As you can see it takes 3 mins and 8 seconds from open folderdatabase to the next log item.

Disabled MP TV Series, Moving Pictures, Skin Info plugin and it still does the same. My debug level is already set at Debug.

Suspect the folder database has been corrupted, might be worthwhile rename and reset up (located in MP config\user files\databases)

Also from your "my system" it shows 1.0.1 for tvserver, make sure it is updated, as both need to be the same, apparently there seems to be delays if tvserver is not configured correctly before starting MP :(

I suspected it might have been that so I tried deleting all the db3 files, MP regenerates them but it still has the 3 min delay. I know that TV server is out dated, I have just recently updated to 1.0.2 just to see if the problem would go away, but it hasn't. I don't think upgrading TV server to 1.0.2 will fix this issue.

    Any more ideas?

Can start MediaPortal in window mode (as opposed to fullscreen) and see if there are any notification windows behind it.
Your TVServer on same or another PC?
As Ray also said, I do suspect the different versions.

I have been testing in windowed mode. Nothing appears to be popping up. I know for certain it's not the Tv server mismatch since it was doing this before I upgraded the client (It was the reason I upgraded the client). Tv server is on a different machine.

I'm going to see if I can build myself a debug version today to see whats going on.

    Hi all,

I have found the problem? I had a SD to microSD converter within my media stick reader which was unpopulated and for some reason Vista took 3 minutes to try an enumerate the drive. The offending code is within GUIVideoFiles.LoadDirectory and it's equivalent in GUIMusicFiles. Although it's not really a MediaPortal bug I would definitely suggest adding a debug log entry every time a new drive is being enumerated, as log entries per drive start would have allowed me to find the problem easily.
