4:3 programs with letterbox stretched out of screen

Its still in 4:3 but its stretches the 16:9 frame of the pic and so some of the top is cutoff</p><p></p><p>Its like its picking up the black bars and thinking it should stretch it because it thinks the source image is 16:9 but its being broadcast as 4:3</p><p></p><p>I have my aspect ratio set to normal and also the codec is set to automatic depending on the source contect. Any 16:9 or full 4:3 broadcast displays correctly in full 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 its just the programs which are broadcast in 4:3 but as 16:9 inside the 4:3 frame where it stretches it</p><p></p><p>The broadcast is digital so I thought the codec should be reading the properties of the broadcast signal to work out whether its 16:9 or 4:3 not by scanning the actual image and seeing black bars and deciding its 16:9 or 4:3??</p><p></p><p>I know it sounds like a wierd issue but it should be keeping it as 4:3 or at least if I zoom it it should go to gull 16:9 and get rid of bars on sides and top but it doesnt if i zoom it just stretches out to full screen but still stretches the top incorrectly</p><p></p><p>thanks</p></blockquote><p></p>
