Hi,
First of all let me say that I have only just come across Media Portal and am now a total convert! It's brilliant!

One of the very few problems I have left to resolve is how 4:3 broadcasts are displayed. I have a 4:3 television, but when I set the aspect ratio to normal, I get a horizontally compressed image with black bars down the side as if I were using a 16:9 screen (which I'm not). Can anyone help me solve this?

Thanks,
Ben

I also get a horizontally compressed 4:3 image in normal mode, even though I have a 16:9 flat screen TV. The aspect ratio works just fine in MCE but MP seem to have trouble with the 4:3 format. If anyone has a solution to this problem it would greatly appreciated.

I've got a similar problem - using dvb-c.
It seems that the internal mpv decoder can't read some flags of the stream.
This is kind of a Pal+(16:9) transmission. I use a 4:3 TV.
Display with mpv decoder:

Display with DScaler decoder (correct aspect ratio):

Maybe this bug can be fixed for the internal mpv decoder, so the aspect ratio gets displayed correctly by default.

Yer I get this problem as well. I'm going to post it in the bug section. I've checked it with 0.2 update and todays svn release. It seems that the MVP codec ignores the anamorphic flag in the tv stream TV. It does however work properly with DVD's and does correctly detect it in SOME mpeg tv streams recorded with the cards own software.

Using MPV (patched release 0.2.0.2) and dvb-s is giving me the same aspect ration issue. DScaler on the other hand works fine and recognizes aspect ratio changes in stream.
