5.1 Digital Audio Not Working (1 Viewer)

Hello, all,
I need some help with my audio. I recently installed a Via Envy24 and connected the optical S/pdif to my Technics receiver. I cannot get 5.1 to output on any of my videos. They all have AC3 5.1. I have tested them with VLC outside of MP, and it works just fine. (I would just use VLC as the external player, but it won't play videos fullscreen without extra commands (the parameters option is not working)).

I've tried installing ffdshow separately and changing the audio settings to allow 5.1, but that doesn't seem to do any good.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
