Here is something to chew on: Most of my x264 movies (720/1080p) play fine at their supposed 24fps, but some, about 10%, starts to stutter and drop frames (checked with Ctrl+1), especially with fast moving scenes.
Now, when I turn off hw acc the movie plays perfect again (tested with spiderman 2.1/720p)!
I guess with some movies it's like the GPU isn't strong enough to handle, just like when your cpu (without hw acc) isn't strong enough...but other movies, also 1080p play everything perfectly...
