The problem is now solved. I had installed the DVBFix when building my machine a few months ago, but I didn't realize it has to be reapplied after XP SP3. So I reinstalled the fix now and it won't freeze again. Thank you fabien.

I use an onboard Geforce 8200 for DXVA on Vista x64 with EVR which works fine except interlaced stuff played by MP (it´s the EVR launched by MP what causes droped frames). But recently I configured a 780G-board for a friend of mine and that beast gave me nightmares. Hardware is fine, but drivers suck- especially if your´re going 64 Bits...now everything is almost as it should be, but it took me about a month to fully configure it. So I´m done with ATI...too crappy drivers. Just ordered a Geforce 8300-board for the next friend in line...
