Hi,
I have set everything up and all i wish to use it for so far is get my composite / and or SVHS connections working to record from a Satellite STB.

The capture card is setup in the Media Portal which it found ok.

I have gone through the setup and tried both the CVB and SVHS with external settop box setup, and without, and set the appropriate inputs. I created 3 channels, 1 mapped to CVB1, one to CVB2 and the other SVHS. I get no video, and it says no connection found on any of them. I have tested the ATI TV software as part of the MMC suite and it gets video with no problems and Im able to record just fine.

Is there something else I am missing here, because reading through the forums, I think I've set it up correctly.

Thanks in advance,
Kubik

Hi Kubik
I am a complete novice at this myself so I do apologise in advance if I have misinterpreted your question.
I too have a Radeon 9800 which I am just in the process of setting up with my TV.
Do you appreciate that the S-Video connector on the Radeon is just TV out? You cannot connect a video input via it.

If you do have a seperate video capture card which you are connecting to I can only suggest that you try some video capture software other than MP just to check your connection. I have used some CCTV software in the past called Homewatcher (just Google it) it's a freeware or share program. When you run it it will automatically display any video streams that it finds to allow you to choose which you want to display.

cheers

Hi,
actually mine is an All In Wonder, and has both input and output. I use it with Media Center Edition and it finds the video streams no problem. It's just Media Portal that says it can't find input. It recognizes that I have a capture card, just nothing thats comes into it. I have tried again since I did this post and still no joy. I really would like to get Media Portal going so I can see what it can really do. Otherwise I guess I'm stuck with MCE, which is ok, but a little restrictive.

Cheers,
Paul

Maybe we can work together on this... I have the AIW 9600XT which should be logically the same as your 9800 to MP. I had limited success getting my S-Video (or SVHS as the Caputre Card tab calls it) working with the AIW and NO SUCCESS getting the NTSC half of my HDTV-Wonder working. I've had GREAT success with the Hauppauge HVR-1600! It does ATSC, NTSC and A/V capture... it does have the on-board hardware encoder, not s/w as the AIW.

Assuming you're using the latest MP, 0.2.3.0 RC2, right? What ATi drivers, WDM version are you using? What name does MP give your Capture Card (in the setup/ Television)? (Since I'm using the ATi Catalyst 5.4 MY AIW shows as a AIW 9x00.) Are you familiar with the .xml stuff? GraphEdit? Are you able to tune NTSC channels? Can you record them? I too used MMC as a basis to believe the AIW card and my system had the right 'tools' and connections to make MP work with it... Once I feel MP can handle my A/V capture needs I'll let loose of MMC 9.06.1 and those old drivers! Lets start there...
