Out of interest: What 37" lcd are you using, and have you confirmed that it will do 1:1 pixel and adept to native 50 as well as 60 Hz?

I think you have answered your own question. If the 9800 is failing slightly with the HD content then it is not the choice.
Try the 6600 since you already have it and don't need to buy one especially for testing.

A number of people here have reported good results from the 6600 with HD so I think this would work well.

The 6600 line isn't the best for gaming, but Nvidia did build a lot of features into it to make it ideal for HTPC apps.

The problem with this is that HDTV reproduction can be poor due to a lot of software issues and until you make sure you have this codec and that codec or you'll never know for sure if it's the hardware or not.
BTW, the 6600 will not work but the 6600GT will.

yes I have confirmed 1:1 pixel mapping at those frequencies

AAOF, I even contributed to the development of the firmware (of the TV) that allows for this - I had direct contact with the factory in China

a 37" sharp 1920x1080 progressive scan desktop display is out of this world (for now ;) )

well I am not sure its the 9800 fault
maybe it is the CPU, maybe whatever is installed on the PC those last 3 years...

Either way, you are in the perfect place to do a comparison test for us.

Do a clean install and try the first card, then either remove the drivers or roll back to an early restore point and install then let us know the result.

    :) have fun...
