This issue isn't actually just in MP. I also have it in Media Player Classic. I have an old SBLive soundcard with the digital I/O board. I'm using this board to run a coax SPDIF connection direct to my receiver.
While I am able to listen to AC3 5.1 as well as stereo PCM via the SPDIF, this issue only seems to occur with AC3 files.
I'm not sure the best way to describe it, which may also be why I'm having issues trying to google for an answer.
Basically during random parts of an avi with AC3 audio, the video will suddenly speed-up for literally 1-2 seconds, as if its trying to catch up to the audio (is there a proper term for this?). According to GraphEdit, its being split by the DirectShow AVI Splitter to AC3 Audio Decoder to Default DirectSound Device.
Any ideas?
