ActionGroups can fail to display. This appears to occur whenever MP is writing error messages to log files.
When this happens, and I press a navigation key - i.e. left arrow for action menu (usually a hidden or sliding menu), nothing appears - the menu just does not display.
The problem is corrected as soon as you navigate to a new window and back.
The problem can occur in any window, but since it is intermittent, it is very difficult to reproduce the error. It does not happen every time MP writes to a log, but I cannot determine what 'types' of error messages cause the problem. Sometimes it seems to occur when MP is simply writing a large number of messages to log files. It certainly happens more frequently when MP or plugins are accessing data online and have problems getting the data - plugins like InfoService, TVSeries, MovingPictures, Showtimes, do this quite a lot. But even errors in the built in Weather plugin can cause the problem.
The problem occurs in all skins I have tried, including Blue3, so it is not a skin issue afaik.
The only way I have found to reproduce the error is as follows:
1. In TVSeries - create, or check for, an incorrect thumb - i.e. one that has partially downloaded or did not download correctly
2. In Blue3 skin, go to TVSeries and try to access the show or episode with the incorrect thumb
3. Press left arrow for Menu - no Menu appears
When this occurs, MP writes a message to error.log:
This the only error message that I can see when the problem occurs. However, the problem does not occur every time the error.log reports an error, so perhaps it is the result of MP trying to write to several log files at once. I don't know!
The problem is minor in most cases, but when using submenus on BasicHome, it is serious.
I have attached my log files for verification.
