Trying out Media Portal for the first time. I have a ADS PCI MCE Tuner, which Windows MCE detects as "ADS PTV 305". I can use the tuner from withing MCE with no problems.

When I run setup and try to add a tuner card in MP, it says "no card detected". Is there a way to skip detection and force it to use a certain card? I see my card listed in the device database, so I'm not sure why MP won't detect it.

Your best bet is to go through the process of adding a new card. You will need all of the information gained to setup a working config file.

The CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file lists the ADS Instant TV Deluxe PCI (PTV-305) card, is this what you have?

Once you have all of the info, post a screenshot of a graph, preferably working. I will also need the devid (moniker) of your card.

The device ID for the tuner is

ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_03051421

Which seems to match the definition in the xml config file exactly. If this is so, is there a way I can force it to detect the card, instead of adding a new card definition?

The full line from the config file is this:

devid="ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_03051421&rev_05">

Do you have a "rev" number in your device ID?

Also you need to have the correct capture and tuner filters listed. The names must match exactly.

The info we need is best taken from GraphEdit, as explained in the wiki that I earlier linked to.

But, it appears that the devid is right. Double check all of the names of the filters and the name of the card. What does windows see the card as?

You can just modify the existing entry to match your card. If it ends up drastically different from the original, it would be good to submit it.

I'm having the same problem.

Did you ever find a working solution for this. I have the same card and I've tried to go through the setup and it won't recognize my card. I have the latest svn build and I see what looks like my card in the CaptureCardDefinitions file. It's not the same as the name in graphedit though.
