I don't have too much cash to spend so I figured a 32" LCD would be a good idea since they're pretty cheap. Thanks knutinh for pointing me in the right direction regarding brands. It's pretty hard (impossible) finding that info in the specification of the LCD's.

Regarding the graphics, I'll just try it out and if it's not good enough I'll buy myself a graphics card.

BTW interesting discussion about LCD vs. plasma. I know it's sligthly off-topic but I already got some answers so I don't mind :)

AFAIK, all LG and DELL lcd screens will give you 1:1 pixel over DVI/HDMI at 60 Hz at least. I think that 1:1@50Hz has been somewhat problematic (if you live in PAL land), but there was some script over at entechtaiwan that supposedly fooled it into proper behaviour.

Philips are really not to concerned about what HTPC-users are doing or so it seems. At least, they can not seem to put proper info on their web pages or anything.

Sony got their act together with the latest generation lcd tvs, but not before.

Note that you will probably have to fool around with VGA and DVI connectors, testing timings etc for the very simple functionality of simply displaying the bloody pixels on a tv exactly as the PC is rendering it. Also, when no info is given, you should automatically presume the worst :)

Also, note that 1:1 pixel and flexible frame rates are only some of the ingredients in a good tv. A bad panel with 1:1 pixel and 24/50/60 Hz is still a bad panel =)

best regards and good luck

BTW, if and when you decide on a model, report its performance here:
