My 9040 just arrived and I plugged it into my running Linux and used xev to identify the mapped keys.
Here is my list, maybe it helps.

Btw: My Keys seem to differ from yours, at least a bit.
My guess: could be because of the german keyboard layout

Sorry for the ugly layout, my list used tabs

As I am at work right now, I can not try it in MP, but I will map the keys as soon as I am at home. Feedback tomorrow.

HIP is free software for remapping keypresses - a bit fiddly at first but seems to work well;

ByRemote - What is HIP?

Hint regarding Blu-ray playback - I have used HIP software to program the ONE button to switch between MP & PowerDVD (which I have to use for Blu-ray playback, until MP suports it natively). To do this, create a profile for MP in HIP, program the ONE button to exit MP and launch PDVD - and vice versa in a profile for PDVD.

Hope this is of some use.

xev is really usefull indeed, glad I could help.

but i have to admit that I do not use mp anymore. as i am on mythtv running linux now. ^^

i got a question though:
my remote is working for, i don't know, 10 minutes or so and then it does not react anymore (only the pc remote part, the rest works fine). but when i replug the transmitter to the pc everything works fine for the next 10 minutes and so on.
i tried different channels but that did not change anything.
the problem is not os-specific, i tried different computers and linux as well....

i guess the transmitter has got a problem there?

greetings, ted

Hi theted

If the problem is across different systems, then it must be the OFA hardware. If it works for 10 minutes after you plug it in, then I think it must be the reciever, because you are not changing the transmitter at all. It is always worth changing the transmitter batteries though, if you haven't already.

Good luck.

I cannot help directly, as I have given up both HIP (very unfriendly) and the one-for-all remote (it would not work after system restart, unless I physically unplugged & replugged - OFA NEVER resolved this for me).

However, I CAN advise;

EventGhost is a much better alternative to HIP - much easier to figure out. Also free.

I now use Gyration Media Centre Remote and am very happy. I tried several cheaper RF remotes and could never make them to do what I wanted. I spent more £££ on these together than the cost of the Gyration!

Good luck!

I finally use the Hid keyboard plugin and it works alright.

Not all the keys but the most of them.

How works the gyration remote with media portal?

Gyration is nice. Most buttons work directly using MP's MCE Remote setting. The rest I configure with EventGhost.

The mouse feature is nice to have and works well, but is not essential for MP itself. It is most useful for accessing other apps outside of MP, like BBC iPlayer, without getting off my sofa.
