I think I've seen the same thing, and for me it was down to what deinterlace settings I had in CoreAVC. It would show this problem with deinterlacing set to anything other than "None (Weave)" - I never really did any more digging and this might not be the same problem, but it might be worth you trying it?

Jon.

TV connection

It's connected to the TV with the card's component video output. My TV is an older-generation DLP 720p - no VGA or DVI.

SOLVED

Great news ... problem solved!

Paranoid's suggestion seems to have done the trick. I removed all installed codec packages and installed the Vista Codec Pack. Like he said, this seems to have fixed something behind-the-scenes because after installing the Vista pack I was even able to re-install CoreAVC and everything now works properly.

Thanks so much for all of the assistance everyone!

Good that the issue was solved. Now, everyone should take this again as one lesson learned from the codecs packs. They can cause even more wierd issues than developers can imagine about, so the troubleshooting will be pita...

Actually it wouldn't be a bed idea to disallow MediaPortal startup if a presence of some codec pack is detected :p

    hi tourettes

That's the thing, originally he had no codecs other than CoreAVC, ATI Avivo, so on a new install there should have been no error.

Glad it fixed it for you, would recommend VCP anytime to fix a users filter problems, and shark007 is always helpful on the msfn and green button forum's where he usually hangs out, if you did have any questions.
