Hi Guys,

I love MovingPictures and the ease of importing Movie database into it's database. Thanks for this great tool!

Unfortunately I'm not so keen on MediaPortal itself. I'd love to have far more search and filter capability, for eg. year, actors or even the ability to goto a specific movie by typing it's name, instead of scrolling through hundres of movies to get to the one you want. Currently MediaPortal is slow and clearly aimed at console users,

Is there anything out there that utilises the MovingPictures database?
Otherwise I was thinking of building a Silverlight app to do just that, but the SQLLite DB makes things a bit hard when developing apps.

Thanks,
Robert

Filtering exists in Moving-Pictures. Check out the menu while browsing to see default filters. You can also create custom filters in the plugin configuration window. Check out the GUI tab. You can do type searching for movies as well. Check out the following link:

aha, thanks for the help LRFalk01 and Paranoid Delusion. :D
I found the custom filters under the plugin config.
So now at least I know how I can setup my own filters.

The remote control filtering thing is great...if you have a remote.
I'll hunt around, I'm sure there is a way to just punch in 'g' on the keyboard to get all movies starting with 'g' for example.

You have to use the numerical keypad part on your keyboard and use it like the SMS entry system on your phone. So to filter down to all your matrix movies you use:

    6 (MNO) + 2 (ABC) + 8 (TUV) + 7 (PQRS) + 4 (GHI) + 9 (WXYZ)

or you can use 0 + 4 to directly jump to all movies starting with letter 'G', but that depends on your SMS-Style settings.
