I've had to reinstall Win7 unfortunately, and upon re-installing SAF5, when I watch TV etc. now my amp just says multich rather than giving me the option of decoding to pro logic 2 or NEO cinema etc.

It worked before but doesn't seem to now and I can't figure out what setting I need to change. I'm connected to the amp via HDMI (ATI 5450) and my amp is an Onkyo 606.

You need to configure the pass through settings in FFDshow audio decoder config. All the settings you need are on the output tab. Also make sure that you have gone into Windows sound settings at set up 2.0/5.1/7.1 surround settings according to your speaker setup.

That's what I thought but I just couldn't see the right place to set it.

I can't figure out what is the right thing to set. It just says multich still most of the time. If I play a soundtrack which is dolby d, true hd or dts then things are fine. But any 2 channel stuff just shows as multich.

Pro-logic etc is only for stereo signals and you must be sending LPCM to amp. To get stereo out check that ffdshow mixer is turned off (and windows speaker settings are set to 2.0)

You set that on the Amp don't you?

I have an Onkyo 607. I like any stereo (2 channel) content to matrix out to a "fake" surround ... like NEO6. I think it's called "Listening Modes" . You have to set it for each Input. It can use the "last selected" or set one. For 2-CH try Studio Mix or PLIIx.

I had to set Windows to think I only had 2 speakers, now I can switch my amp to any mode rather have it just say multich in the whole time. This means I still get 5.1 etc. if that source is, but if the source is only 2.0 (TV etc.) then I can initiate one of the amps listening modes.
