aMPed and InfoService 1.6.6 (9 Viewers)

Hi all, please note that aMPed 3.3.1 does not yet support InfoService v1.6.6. Sadly the Recently Added feature was removed in 1.6.6. So if your tickers on Basic Home are not working (and display properties like: '#infoservice.recently.added.series1.title', that is why.

As a temporary workaround you can just delete the file common.infoservice.recentlyadded.xml from your aMPed skin folder. You will probably get a message that the file is missing in error.log, because Basic Home is still looking for it, but it causes no harm.

I will be looking at implementing the new Latest Media plugin once I can figure out how to fit it on a 4x3 screen nicely Until then, you might prefer to stick with InfoService 1.6.5 if you like seeing your Recently Added media.

Just a little background info why I chose to disable recently added feature in InfoService. It was disabled since cul8er's Latest Media Handler plugin does a great job and it doesn't make any sense to maintain two plugins for same thing I'm sorry for any inconveniences caused, but as Dadeo said, stick to InfoService v1.6.5 (beta version) until aMPed skin is updated.

Hi SE - I understood your reason, just caught me by surprise (right after I released 3.3.1 LOL). I do plan to implement Latest Media Handler but thought I had a bit more time to see how best to implement it for 4x3 (there are no Default 4x3 skin files yet AFAIK). It always takes me longer to support large fonts on a smaller screen

I noticed this was marked as fixed in the issue tracker so I updated my SVN skin files and i still get the infoservice recently added ticker unless i remove the "common.infoservice.recentlyadded.xml" file.

Using revaMPed with InfoService 1.6.6

Hey TLD, thanks for testing - but I cannot reproduce the issue! Is it possible you have a modified version of revaMPed? If so you will either need to recreate the mod from the new version of revaMPed in Editor, or you can just remove the line at the bottom of BasicHome.xml:

<import>common.infoservice.recentlyadded.xml</import>

However I would like to figure out why you have the issue. How do you update from SVN? Do you build and reinstall aMPed or just update the skin files in your skin\amped folder?

Can you check the date on BasicHome.xml - it should be 10/10/2011 9:38 pm. Is it the same as the version in skin\aMPed\Layouts\BasicHome\revaMPed?
What happens if you run amped config, then apply and run MP? Do you still get the InfoService ticker?

Btw I have added you to the aMPed Google Project as a tester, so you can verify issues, since you seem to find the most I hope that is OK?

I update the skin files in my skin\aMPed SVN folder.

Yes i'll need to update the SVN again as i have deleted the "common.infoservice.recentlyadded.xml" from the skin\aMPed SVN folder, and it late so i'll do it tomorrow.

I did go into the editor to see if there was a new setting to turn off the recently added ticker after i updated the SVN and i did save as i removed the IMDB+ menu item i had created because it's now showing up in Moving Pictures.

Btw I have added you to the aMPed Google Project as a tester, so you can verify issues, since you seem to find the most I hope that is OK?

It's OK you are off the hook

Based on what you told me, I checked SVN and found I had not updated the default BasicHome.xml in main skin folder, only the ones in the Layouts folder. So you were still getting your previous Basic Home (until you reselect/change it in aMPed Config.) My bad! I updated SVN now.

Thanks for catching that, it is an error I often make - forgetting to update the default xmls :sorry:

EDIT: I have added test files for Latest Media Handler to SVN now if you want to test them. Basically they provide the same tickers as before, except the tickers change based on which menu option you highlight (so Latest TV Recordings for TV/Recorded TV, latest Music for Music, etc.) I believe cul8er is looking at adding support for My Films 5 to the next version of LMH as well
