I am trying to view my analog channels. They are all shown on the MP guide, but they will not tune in. There is one channel on the guide CVBS#1 that the set top box channels are shown through. I reviewed the MP wiki, but I could not figure out how to fix this problem. Any help will be appreciated. I have attached my log files.

Thanks, Wayne

    Hello and welcome Wayne :)

    Can you please explain your setup and what you're trying to achieve in more detail. The more detail you can give, the better your chances of getting help. Right now, with the greatest respect, what you've said is confusing and doesn't make a lot of sense.

    How is the set top box connected to the PC?
    • s-video
    • composite video
    • other (please explain)
    Do you have an IR blaster connected between the PC and set top box?
    If yes, what type of blaster is it?
    • Hauppauge (came with the Hauppauge tuner)
    • WMC-compatible
    • USB-UIRT
    • other (please explain)
    ...and what have you done to make the blaster work?

    If no, how are you expecting the channels to "tune in"?

    Hi MM, thanks for your reply.

    My set top box is connected to my Hauppauge tuner card via the composite video input, I can see my cable channels in MP on one channel, CVBS#1. I am able to change the set top box channels on CVBS#1 using the set top box remote. I am receiving my guide from Schedules Direct, which shows my Comcast channels. I have a WMC compatible blaster installed which works correctly in Media Center. I am planning to use IRSS to operate the blaster. I just haven't gotten that far yet.

    I have looked through the MP wiki trying to find the correct channel set up to work around my problem. When I try to select one of the cable channels in the guide I get audio with a blue screen, If I select CVBS#1 the cable box station comes in correctly.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

    Thanks Wayne - that's much clearer. (y)

    When I try to select one of the cable channels in the guide I get audio with a blue screen
    That's because the SchedulesDirect plugin - which created all those channels - has created them with the wrong input configuration.

    To get all your channels to show the STB feed:
    1. Open TV Server Configuration.
    2. Expand the "plugins" section (click on the + in the right hand pane) and select the SchedulesDirect plugin.
    3. Go to the "advanced options" tab.
    4. Set/change "external video input for new channels" to "VideoInput1".
    5. Set/change "external audio input for new channels" to "LineInput1".
    6. Tick "force guide update on next TvService startup".
    7. Go to the "TV Channels" section [of TV Server Configuration].
    8. Select and delete all channels created by the SD plugin (ie. all except "CVBS #1", "S-video #1" etc.). You can use the SHIFT, CTRL, HOME and END keys to help you select the correct channels easily.
    9. Repeat 7 and 8 for the "Radio Channels" section.
    10. Go to the "Manual Control" section.
    11. Click "stop service"... then "start service".
    12. Wait at least 3 minutes to give the SD plugin a chance to recreate all the channels.
    13. Expand the "TV Channels" section and select the "TV Mapping" sub-section.
    14. Select the tuner connected to the STB (probably the first "Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog TV Tuner") up the top.
    15. In the left hand list, select the first channel, hold down the SHIFT key, then press the END key, to select all the new channels created by the SD plugin.
    16. Click ">>" to map/link the channels to the tuner.
    Now all the channels should work.

    One other thing I noticed in your log files which you ought to fix is your hybrid tuner groups. It looks like you've created one "Analog" group for the two analog tuners. What you need to do is replace the "Analog" group with two new groups. Each new group should contain one analog tuner and one digital ("ATSC") tuner. The correct pairing is as follows...

    Group 1:
    Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog TV Tuner @device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7164&subsys_88510070&rev_81#4&155eba39&0&00e1#{a799a800-a46d-11d0-a18c-00a02401dcd4}\{e7624e1b-0f75-4048-b65d-f51fb3131500}
    Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner @device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7164&subsys_88510070&rev_81#4&155eba39&0&00e1#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{06dad091-e58d-4e4d-9479-334aff773400}

    Group 2:
    Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog TV Tuner @device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7164&subsys_88510070&rev_81#4&155eba39&0&00e1#{a799a800-a46d-11d0-a18c-00a02401dcd4}\{e7624e1b-0f75-4048-b65d-f51fb3131501}
    Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner @device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7164&subsys_88510070&rev_81#4&155eba39&0&00e1#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{06dad091-e58d-4e4d-9479-334aff773401}

    Note the matching digits at the end of the "device path" field.

    Thanks again MM. You fixed my problem areas. Now I am going to start working on getting IRSS installed and running.
