    Hi again memphisto20

    Thank you for your patience - I have a new patch for you to try! :D
    I'd expect that video should start to show with this patch. You will need to connect the audio to the "mikrofon" input on your soundcard to get the audio to timeshift with MediaPortal. Alternatively, once you have successfully started TV you should be able to set the audio input in the XML configuration file that you posted earlier. Please remember to post logs (tv.log, TV Server error.log) if the patch doesn't work.

    AW: Analog Hauppauge WIN TV config problem

    hi,
    thanks for the fast reply.
    i did not imagine that it would be that fast.

    I tried your patch and unfortunately was not able to make it work.
    it looks like mediaportal is does not recognize my tv-card anymore (see screenshot) although it is working with the other app.
    by clicking on preview i get the following error:
    channel not mapped to any card

    anyway i am a total newby concerning mediaportal. maybe it was my mistake. sorry if i did not know how to apply trhe patch correctly.

    again i attached the logs. let me know what you think. thanks for your help !!

    Hi once again memphisto20

    I think the card wasn't recognised because you have preloading enabled and there was a problem with my patch during the load.
    Here is yet another build for you to try. Hopefully this time we have it right!

    mm1352000

    p.s: You applied the patch perfectly and the logs were nice and short. Thank you :)

    Hi again

    There is good news and bad news.
    The good news is that the graph is now successfully built with the sound card audio input :)
    The bad news is that MediaPortal still can't detect the audio :(

    You can see the problem in the logs:
    2010-11-29 08:30:54.234375 [(6)]: card: WaitForTimeShiftFile - waiting _eventAudio & _eventVideo
    2010-11-29 08:31:09.234375 [(6)]: card: WaitForTimeShiftFile - no audio was found after 15 seconds
    2010-11-29 08:31:09.250000 [(6)]: card Hauppauge WinTV TvTuner: StopTimeShifting user:setuptv sub:0

    Do you hear the audio like before?
    Make sure the mikrofon input is enabled with the volume up at approximately 50%...
    Also, can you please post the configuration XML again (it should have changed).

    I have to go to bed now (2:30am in the morning here!!!)...

    good morning.

    seems like you were right.
    the mic input was on mute.
    I unmuted it and the volume is up at 50 %
    if i click on preview i can hear the sound for about 20 secs. but no picture.
    then it stops and gives me the same error: no video audio ....
    logs attached :)

    sorry for bothering you again.

    hi memphisto20

    You don't bother me at all - no need to apologise.
    I confess I am starting to get to the end of my ideas. Some ideas really require me to be at your computer to try them :(
    I noticed that parts of the configuration XML still don't look right:

    <capture>
    <videoCapture>
    <name />
    <videoIn>0</videoIn>
    <videoStandard>
    <available>0</available>
    <selected>0</selected>
    </videoStandard>
    <videoProcAmp />
    <imageResolution>-1x0</imageResolution>
    <frameRate>25</frameRate>
    <teletextPin>2</teletextPin>
    </videoCapture>
    </capture>

    For example, the video capture device should have the name "Hauppauge WinTV Capture" like this:

    <name>Hauppauge WinTV Capture</name>

    There should be an audio capture section. The fact that it is missing might mean that there is something still wrong with my patch. I'll take another look when I have some time...

    The video standard, video-proc-amp and image resolution are also wrong. You can fix these by following these instructions:

    1. Open TV Server config.
    2. Expand the TV Servers section.
    3. Expand the TV server that has the WinTV tuner.
    4. Select the WinTV card.
    5. Go to the settings tab.
    6. Make sure that the "video standard" is set to the correct standard for your country (for example, for me in New Zealand it is PAL_B). You can find what standard your country uses here.
    7. Select the "frame rate" that corresponds with the video standard. For PAL select 25fps; for NTSC select 29.97.
    8. Select the correct "frame size" for your country. I recommend one of the first two - either 720x576 or 720x480.
    9. Go to the VideoProcAmp tab.
    10. Click on the default values button to reset the brightness, contrast etc.
    11. Click okay to close configuration.
    (12. TV Server should automatically restart. If it doesn't, make sure you restart manually.)

    Finally, the quality control section has the same settings as for my card, but I see some strange things in the log:

    2010-11-29 20:32:50.609375 [TVService(5)]: analog:AddMpegMuxer, connected pinaudio->mpeg muxer
    2010-11-29 20:32:50.609375 [TVService(5)]: analog: Check quality control
    2010-11-29 20:32:50.625000 [TVService(5)]: analog: No quality control support found
    2010-11-29 20:32:50.640625 [TVService(5)]: Hauppauge Quality Control Initializing No DX Error
    2010-11-29 20:32:50.640625 [TVService(5)]: Hauppauge set video parameters - Max kbps: -1, Min kbps: -1, VBR False
    2010-11-29 20:32:50.640625 [TVService(5)]: analog:AddTsFileSink

    This must be because your card is made by Hauppauge and most newer Hauppauge cards support quality control. My logs show:

    2010-12-01 19:42:38.750000 [(13)]: analog:AddMpegMuxer, connected pinaudio->mpeg muxer
    2010-12-01 19:42:38.750000 [(13)]: analog: Check quality control
    2010-12-01 19:42:38.750000 [(13)]: analog: No quality control support found
    2010-12-01 19:42:38.750000 [(13)]: analog:AddTsFileSink

    This makes me suspicious. When I have some time I will make a patch that stops the quality control from being used with your card...

    You may want to take a look at the configuration for my card which is attached. MediaPortal set it up for me automatically...

    After you've followed my instructions above please try and watch TV again and post the logs.
    :)

    The new configuration XML looks *much* better. It even has the audio capture filter section that I was expecting to see last time. The error log tells me that there is still something wrong with my patch though. I think that should be fixed in the new version of the patch that I've attached to this post.

    If this patch doesn't work then please post the logs and XML again (sorry for the work)...
