Okay. It's taken me a few weeks on this (really only 3 days due to the WFT - wife free time) and before I go down the path that Califo suggested, I thought that I would teach myself how this all works so that I can be my own support as well as fix my problem at the same time. To recap, I have a Dvico dual digital card that is working incredibly well within MP. I am able to get both cards working and am really happy with the quality of the signal and the functionality within MP. I use Dugg and am surprised how easy EPG can be. I have a MCE remote and the integration within MP is fantastic. My requirement: I have cable television and want to capture the stream into MP via the composite or SVHS input using my MCE remote's IR blaster to change channels. I know that MP is capable of doing this. My problem: I cannot get the video stream in from the composite in on the card. Where I am: I originally tried to do this with 0.2 RC4 but many of the forum threads have stated that software card support has been removed from the latest version. I was encouraged by someone on a similar quest with the same card who reverted to 0.1.3 with success so I have gone down this path. I have used graphedit to try to piece together the puzzle of the capturecarddefinitions.xml file and have been quite successful. I have created a configuration that I believe is correct. MP Setup will add the card without complaints. I even check the configuration of the crossbar of the card and can see that a signal is being received. Woohoo! I've installed InterVideo DVR3 and played around with selecting the InterVideo Video Encoder. Although it works in graphedit, MP wasn't very happy with it. I will try again as I only superficially worked with this encoder and I may have done something stupid. Everything looks sweet in setup, but when I look at the log file, I see this (snippet): 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM device:FusionHDTV, WDM Video Capture id:@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05#4&23c0b1c&0&08f0#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM device: id:@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_0fe9&pid_db50#5&139ae3d8&0&7#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{9b365890-165f-11d0-a195-0020afd156e4} 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM device:FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture id:@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_14f1&dev_8802&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05#4&23c0b1c&0&0af0#{fd0a5af4-b41d-11d2-9c95-00c04f7971e0}\global 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM device:Bluebird, WDM TsCapture id:@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_0fe9&pid_db50#5&139ae3d8&0&7#{fd0a5af4-b41d-11d2-9c95-00c04f7971e0}\{5bb3dbd0-9e1e-424c-9281-6b5e7109f100} 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Found capture #0 card:FusionHDTV, WDM Video Capture moniker:@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05#4&23c0b1c&0&08f0#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Found capture #1 card: moniker:@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_0fe9&pid_db50#5&139ae3d8&0&7#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{9b365890-165f-11d0-a195-0020afd156e4} 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Found capture #2 card:FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture moniker:@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_14f1&dev_8802&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05#4&23c0b1c&0&0af0#{fd0a5af4-b41d-11d2-9c95-00c04f7971e0}\global 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Found capture #3 card:Bluebird, WDM TsCapture moniker:@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_0fe9&pid_db50#5&139ae3d8&0&7#{fd0a5af4-b41d-11d2-9c95-00c04f7971e0}\{5bb3dbd0-9e1e-424c-9281-6b5e7109f100} 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Adding name:Dvico FusionHDTV Dual 1 capture:FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture id:ven_14f1&dev_8802&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05 bda:True mce:False mpeg2:True 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Adding name:Dvico FusionHDTV Dual 2 capture:Bluebird, WDM TsCapture id:vid_0fe9&pid_db50 bda:True mce:False mpeg2:True 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Adding name:Dvico FusionHDTV Dual (Analog) capture:FusionHDTV, WDM Video Capture id:ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_db5018ac&rev_05 bda:False mce:False mpeg2:True 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM selected Dvico FusionHDTV Dual (Analog) bda:False mce:False mpeg2:True 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM selected Dvico FusionHDTV Dual (Analog) bda:False mce:False mpeg2:True 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM Card:3 CreateGraph 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM SinkGraphEx:CreateGraph() IN 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM VideoCaptureDevice: found output pin 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM VideoCaptureDevice:HW MPEG2 encoder:True MCE device:False 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM VideoCaptureDevice:get Video stream control interface (IAMStreamConfig) 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM VideoCaptureDevice:got IAMStreamConfig for Capture 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM VideoCaptureDevice:got IAMStreamConfig for Preview 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM SinkGraphEx: Capturing:320x240 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM mpeg2:add new MPEG2 Demultiplexer to graph 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM mpeg2:create video out pin on MPEG2 demuxer 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM mpeg2:create audio out pin on MPEG2 demuxer 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM mpeg2:find MPEG2 demuxer input pin 2/06/2006 7:54:26 AM mpeg2:found MPEG2 demuxer input pin 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM SinkGraph:FAILED to connect Encoder->mpeg2 demuxer:80040217 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2:MPEG2 demuxer map MPG stream 0xe0->video output pin 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2:mapped MPEG2 demuxer stream 0xe0->video output 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2:MPEG2 demuxer map MPG stream 0xc0->audio output pin 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2:mapped MPEG2 demuxer stream 0xc0->audio output 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM SinkGraphEx:CreateGraph() OUT 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM SinkGraph:Set quality:high 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM driver version: min:-1 peak:-1 vbr:False 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM Card:3 DeleteGraph 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM SinkGraph:DeleteGraph() 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2: close interfaces 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2: stop mediactl 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM mpeg2: stopped mediactl 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM Sinkgraph:ReleaseComobject(_mVideoCaptureStreamConfig):2 2/06/2006 7:54:29 AM Sinkgraph:ReleaseComobject(_mVideoPreviewStreamConfig):2 The first thing that I see is the HW MPEG2 encoder:True. Unless I misunderstand what I'm reading here, the composite input (or the WDM Video Capture) is a software device. Secondly and more importantly, the FAILED to connect Encoder->mpeg2 demuxer message. I have attempted to use graphedit to connect the encoder to a demuxer (any of the ones that I could find) without success. My questions: Does MP 0.2 RC4 support the Dvico FusionHDTV composite in or should I stay on 0.1.3? Can anyone see anything obviously wrong with my card definition or have any suggestions for improvement? Does MP see this device as a hardware encoding device and should I make changes to the definition file? Should I just give up, get the info that Califo has suggested and send it off (basically, am I just spinning my wheels)?
