Is there anything a can install that allow me to choose my subtitle (by remote) when i have more than one? I can do that with .MKV when i press "more" in the remote and i see the option for various subtitles and audio channels, but with divx or xvid it doesn't work.

On my Hauppauge Remote I can use the yellow button to cycle through subtitles. This also switches them on or off.

Hello.

You should put all in to MKV by MKVmerge.
It is easy & fast.

But i have thousands of movies already recorded, can't do that now.

@furetto

I use a speedlink SL-6399, any thoughts on how i can do that?

Maybe i should post the same question in the remote thread, but i think i have already tried all the keys and can't find nothing.

Ps- i forgot to mention it, i think the problem is related do ".sub" subtitles, the ones that include various languages in the same file.

I have no clue how your remote works nor how MP supports it. In general, I could see two ways to make this work.
  1. If you remote simulates keyboard strikes, you need to map a button to the letter L, which is the keyboard shortcut that enables/disables/switches subtitles
  2. If you remote is supported and configurable in MP, you should go into the key mapping and make sure that When-Video-Is-Playing, some action to cycle Subtitles is triggered.

I have no MP around, so this is from memory, rather vague for the second case indeed...

Ok, resolved part of the problem:

i didn't have vobsub nor direct vobsub installed, once i installed it, i was able to choose the language with the "more" key.

Now comes the problem» The subtitle is displayed in a strange color

1- Tried vobsub, i can change the font to white with a black outline but even if i check the "save" option, every time i open the movie it comes back to default.

2- Tried direct vobsub, and tried all kinds of settings but the subtitle has always the same colour.

I just don't understand why the program doesn't save my setting, any clues on this?

Hi Furetto,

I have MCE remote, does it map the subtitles button by default? Or do I have to make the mapping manually?

Thanks a lot.

You need to configure it directly in MP configuration.

Where can i configure that? Is there any place where i can chosse de subtitle colour? I´ve used the search but could't find nothing. The only thing i see in MP configuration related to subtitles is the font size (wich also has a coulor but does nothing), the prefered language and a check box to show subtitles, where should i look to configure colours?

I suggest you to use SAF, it is preconfigured & working.
