Hmmmmm,

Just a quick question. I was looking at the latest build of Media Player Classic Homecinema and I see it has an anti tearing option.
I do not have any understanding of how all this stuff works, but could their method (however it is done) work in MP?

Its already implemented in MP with following two use cases:

    1) VMR9 + exclusive mode
    2) EVR + Vista AERO enabled

Well I still have huge tearing issues using XP with VMR9+exclusive mode enabled!!! Seems to be the worst when playing 720p mkv (H264 + DTS).
How does VMR9+exclusive work to overcome the tearing issues? I am trying to get my head around this whole tearing problem. It pretty much makes watching anything of any quality not worth watching.

In Excluvive Mode there shouldn't be any tearing, but you can try to force vsync within your display drivers control panel additionally. This works fine for me even without exclusive mode.

btw.: There is always a chance that the tearing is caused by your display! If e.g. your living in Europe and have your PC set up to a 50Hz refresh rate, you may experience tearing with some displays that are accepting 50Hz resolutions but don't support them natively. The only way around something like this would be to set your refresh rate to the refresh rate your display supports natively (mostly 60Hz). This would introduce some microstuttering but get you rid of the tearing.
