I don't use Teletext myself much but my wife is so it is very important for WAF

Any changes planned for Teletext in a not to distant future?

So what do I have problem with current teletext feature or want to get improved?

1) Doesn't look quite right (strange font and spacing). See the two attached images to compare teletext in MP (teletext mp.jpg) compared to teletext in Terratec Home Cinema (teletext thc) which looks just like it does on a normal tv.

2) Would prefer to have the top row (which display pahge number etc) to display channel, and date etc (compare the images) instead of displaying Mediaportal etc.

3) Probably what I think is most important: Be able to use Up/down arrows to scroll pages.

4) A nice feature which I have on my Samsung 50" is to split screen vertical with TV on half screen and Teletext on other half.

5) Subtitels from Teletext but I guess that is already work in progress. But also to be able to show subtitles from teletext for shows that are not sent with subtitles on (you can turn it on by entering a specific teletext page).

I have made some patches for the teletext module in the past, so I will give you some hints, but I don't know what the teams plans to do.

This isn't easy to fix since it is very complicated to determine the correct font size. Also I don't know which font is the correct one to use. If you are using the tvengine 2 which is integrated in MP, you can reduce the font size in the configuration program of MP to avoid that the characters get cropped. Unfortunately this feature isn't available for the tvserver, because the team only committed the part for the tvengine 2 of my patch.

Could be done, but could result in more stuttering, because the teletext gets updated more often.

This is possible. You have only have to assign the right action to the key/remote key you want. You can even change the subpages with a key or you remote. The actions are:
- ACTION_NEXT_TELETEXTPAGE : Standard key F8
- ACTION_PREVIOUS_TELETEXTPAGE : Standard key F7
- ACTION_REMOTE_SUBPAGE_UP : Standard key F6
- ACTION_REMOTE_SUBPAGE_DOWN : Standard key F5

Could be possible, but I don't believe that it will be included. Perhaps it helps if your skin file for the windowed teletext and increase the tv overlay which is displayed in the corner.

Ziphnor is currently working on a teletext subtitle feature for the tvserver. But this won't work with the old tvengine 2.
