Too bad. Which firewire controller would you recommend?

generally i use onboard solutions with intel or nforce chipsets.

Bought myself a Belkin USB 2.0 & Firewire PCI card with TI chipset. Will let you know if it improves stability. After all, Adaptec 4300 also uses TI chipset.

No problems so far. Seems to work flawlessly. Only zapping is stil very slow (mostly 30 secs). But again, that's not a big problem.
