anybody using unicable with mediaportal? (1 Viewer)

Hi,
is anybody using unicable with mediaportal? I'm thinking about investing in a unicable-quad-lnb and using it with this card: Media-Pointer MP-S2² (the drivers will support unicable).
My question is, will it work with mediaportal?

no, not yet.
However, Media-Pointer MP-S2² should work fine with MP as long as you don't use unicable. With unicable I don't know.

I see that You have a FloppyDTV-S2... so do I (I have two of them and one FloppyDTV-T).

As I guess You know DigitalEverywhere has stopped the production and the upgrade of theese fantastic boards.

Now I have a problem: in the new flat to bring the satellite cable I had to let install a Unicable System due to the fact that also the joint owner over me wanted to have the satellite cable. So we received one cable each other taking 2 port each other (with the possibility to use 2 port each other, that's mean I can use two decoders Unicable compatible in the mean time or one dec with two inputs).

So by now I had to put my FloppyDTVs in the closet and I'm just watching the paytv (SKY) with the original and proprietary dec (Unicable compatible). In fact as I could learn from Internet and various forums the FloppyDTVs are not Unicable compatible.

What about this Media-Pointer MP-S2² or other Unicable compatible boards? Do You know any other?

I can see that the Media-Pointer MP-S2² has two input... are these to use in the mean time with Unicable system?
And what about the CAM to use a smartcard? (I do not see any CI slot in the Media-Pointer MP-S2²)

And finally, what about MediaPortal? Did You find out if it supports Unicable?

Hi, floppydtv doesn't Support unicable, You're right. The beta-drivers of this Media Pointer Card seem to Be supporting unicable. But that doesn't really matter since mediaportal doesn't Support it. So for the Time being, i abandoned this project.
And As far As i Know, you can only buy the Media Pointer card in this One German onlineshop.
But who knows, maybe they also Ship to Italy? Just Write them, they should speak english.

As You can see Griga write: "UniCable will only work with TechnoTrend and FireDTV DVB-S/S2 devices" (FireDTV and FloppyDTV are the same). Why?


And why the MP team do not develop the Unicable feature? If I have understood right is just a matter of DiSEqC comunication...

Ah, ok. Maybe FloppyDTV does support it after all. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to implement it into mediaportal. But i think it's not their number one priority given the fact that only a few people actually use unicable.

If you want to buy this mediapointer-card, I can ask in the german webshop whether they ship to italy. But currently they are out of stock.

Hi guys!

I bought the CineS2 card from here a month ago and everything works fine with driver 1.3.0.2.
It also has the fastest zapping time I ever saw: less than 1 second between SD-Channels.
Haven't tried driver 1.3.1.6 yet...

If someone could tell me what the unicable feature is, I will test it with newest public SVN of MediaPortal.

You need a special lnb though
