For information, I am using a 6280 (dual tuner) on Win 7 32 bit with no problems at all. I guess it is a combination of your motherboard, drivers, OS, whatever.

Unless of course there are specific issues with the 6284.

I'd put money on the motherboard being the problem here, especially if not pci-e v2, I have same problem with my nvidia gt220 if using any drivers after 190.45 ish, put it in a new build I was doing and it worked fine then with the latest driver :(

I have basically come to that conclusion, although I should realy try a fresh OS instal (VISTA 64 this time) as this was installed in FEB 2007 and only has what is required for MP to run plus OS MS updates, never had a problem in over five years and it runs great without the 6284 with VISTA32.

A new MB is tempting but that can lead to the tip of a very expensive iceberg, i try to avoid that nowadays, although there is an ASROCK 939 mb available, matx and most of the latest goodies but expensive at 70GBP, very tempting as it would re-use all the compnents i have now.

OR get some quiet fans for the OPTERON server now that is a beast.

Just for information, I have a 6280 card (dual tuner) and recently had problems with poor signal.

It appears that the card was getting too hot (we've actually had a bit of warm weather - the card certainly felt hot). Moving it to a higher PCI-e slot with better cooling got things back to normal, although I'll be adding some more cooling fans.

Thought that this information may help others.
