Anyone using a PDA or Mobile as a remote? (3 Viewers)

Hi there,

It's been a while since I properly checked in on Media Portal and I am looking to give it another go soon.

I want to go 'fancy' this time and was wondering if there was any support/plugin for a mobile phone remote over bluetooth or pda over wifi or bluetooth, or maybe PSP and wifi.

Anyone got anything like that running?

Sony Mobiles have built in HID profiles for Bluetooth.
This means that you can use your mobile to control MP via the native MP HID support.
It's not really very practical. It's mostly good for winning wars over who gets the remote or if the remote is out of reach and you are feeling lazy.
This is mostly due to the way Sony sets up the mobile buttons for control.

cheetah05 - i was just about to ask the same question, i just got a Palmone Tungsten T5 and wanted to turn it into a touch screen remote for my mp. I know there was an old program for something along this line but they havnt done any work on it in a very long time. let me know if you find anything out there or if you plan on working on the project would be an awesome add on to MP.

Would other phones work with extra software? I am guessing yes as they would just be setup to control windows all together.

I will get hold of a bluetooth dongle as soon as i can and get testing with my D600 and then check out other Touchscreen phones.

What i am eventually looking for is something that will be fully integrated with Media Portal. So I would be able to have buttons on the actual phone which would be specific to media portal.

Then (and I am probably dreaming with this but) be able to bring up the tv listings on the phone without it being brought up on media portal and be able to be able to control things. Would have to talk to the web interface people for that I guess.

Interesting, just been doing some more googling and it appears there are already some things out there specifically for media portal:

I've also seen a program called "salling Clicker" or something like that. It's not free but not too expensive. It lets you do everything and even gives you a preview window on the PDA of what is on the screen.
The trial version gives you something like 500 clicks as a sample.

I do have a good remote that I use most of the time (Imon), but sometimes I use my Nokia 6230i as a remote. I use Puppetmaster for that (just google on Puppetmaster). You can use it for almost every BT-java phone. Somewhere on this forum the must be a puppetmaster-keymap for MP as well.

Interesting, I am looking into creating my own version of this, but I know absolutely nothing about media portal and how it deals with data, so I am hoping someone will give me some information on how that works for sections like the music section.

I am also worried, that with v0.3 being put into development, that the program i create will become obsolete.
